Size For Your Child

The most important things to consider when selecting the right size for your Antsy Pants™ kid:

  • Waist Circumference - Your child's waist circumference should be at least the same as the relaxed waist measurement of the diaper (see details on how to measure below).
  • Hip Circumference - Your child's hip circumference must be smaller than the maximum waist circumference of the diaper.
  • It's Good To Have a Waist - Near the small end of each waist size range, Antsy Pants™ will stay in place much better if your child's hip circumference is larger than her waist.
  • Rise Length - Your child's rise measurement should be at least that of the diaper to be sure there won't be gaps at the leg openings. (Rise length is the skin measurement from front to back waist passing between the legs right where the leg joins the torso). It's OK for your child's measurement to be up to 1 1/2" longer, but you can also think about taking the next size up so long as the relaxed rise measurement is not too long on that size.
  • Primary Use - Will your child wear Antsy Pants™ for day only, mostly stuffed for night or both? If it looks like your child could wear two different sizes and you will often use them for night, purchase the larger size. When stuffed with a nighttime insert, the rise will measure approximately 1" shorter than the below measurements.

For easiest selection of the correct size Antsy Pants™ for your child, they are paired with the infant and toddler clothing sizes that correspond to each. Because of Antsy Pants'™ unique patent-pending stretch side panels, each size continues to fit for far longer than one size of children's clothing.

1T size fits children who wear size 6mo clothing through 18mo clothing. The relaxed waist measurement is 14" and stretches to 21". The relaxed rise along the side of the diaper is approximately 12".

2T size fits children who wear size 18mo, 2T and 3T clothing. The relaxed waist measurement is 16" and stretches to 24". The relaxed rise along the side of the diaper is approximately 13".

4T size fits children who wear sizes 3T and 4T clothing. The relaxed waist measurement is 17" and stretches to 28". The relaxed rise along the side of the diaper is approximately 14".

5 size fits children who wear size 5 clothing. The relaxed waist measurement is 18" and stretches to 30". The relaxed rise along the side of the diaper is approximately 15".

7 size fits children who wear sizes 6 and 7 clothing. The relaxed waist measurement is 19" and stretches to 31". The relaxed rise along the side of the diaper is approximately 16".

9 size fits children who wear sizes 8 and 9 clothing. The relaxed waist measurement is 19.5" and stretches to 32". The relaxed rise along the side of the diaper is approximately 17".

11 size fits children who wear sizes 10 and 11 clothing. The relaxed waist measurement is 20" and stretches to 33". The relaxed rise along the side of the diaper is approximately 18".

When deciding on the correct size, you will want to take into account whether your child is close to moving out of the size range, such as, is your child currently wearing size 2T pants that fit perfectly and 3T that have too-long pant legs but the waist fits fine? You can probably go with size 2T. If you are almost ready to put the 2T sized pants up in the attic, then go with the 4T size as long as your child's 3T pants are not loose in the waist.

Each night insert added to the pocket reduces the on-body rise length by around 1", so if you are concerned about rise length with the size corresponding to the child's clothing and will be using only at night, be sure to size up.

Measuring Your Child To Determine Size

If you are still unsure about the correct size of Antsy Pants™ to purchase for your child, taking a few of your child's measurements would be the next step. The three measurements you need are waist circumference, hip circumference and rise length.

The easiest way to be sure you get these two measurements in the right spot is to tie a ribbon or string around your child’s waist and use it as a guide for both measurements.
Waist circumference is measured around your child’s torso at the natural waist. This should be lower in the front (below the tummy) and higher in the back (at the small of the back).

Rise length is measured between the center front and center back points of the above waist circumference, passing between the legs and flat to the skin at the point where the leg joins the torso. For the most accurate fit possible, our sizing suggestions reflect this measurement taken without a diaper or other clothing on.
